How Can You Help?

Current Needs We need the following expertise:
  1. Painters – To do odd jobs and repairs for 2-3 hours per month.
  2. Construction Person – To coordinate building projects for 3 hours/month.
  3. Eligibility Screeners – To interview possible patients on Tuesday mornings
    for one to four days per month.
  4. Nurses – To staff clinics on one, two, three, or four Thursday nights per month
    or on occasional weekdays for specialty clinics.
  5. Dental Assistants - To assist on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening or on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays during the daytime once or more/month

Services General medical, dental, and pharmaceutical services are provided on site. Support services available on site include: lab, dermatology, diet and nutrition counseling, physical therapy, health education classes and support groups and specialty clinics in gastroenterology, gynecology, hypertension/chronic kidney disease, minor surgeries, optamology, podiatry, orthopedics, and rheumatology. Support services available in the community include diagnostic imaging, lab, and consultation in cardiology, endodontics, family practice, internal medicine, nephrology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, physical therapy, pulmonology, major surgery, and urology.
Staffing Most services are donated by volunteers who donate their time and expertise. Over four hundred physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, dietitians, nutritionists, health educators, and lay people provide patient services. There is a small paid staff consisting of a full-time Executive Director, Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Coordinator, Program/Office Manager, Special Events/Development Coordinator, MedsHelp Coordinator, Dental Coordinator, Pharmacy Coordinator and receptionist, along with clinic nurses at the end of the box to "along with three part-time front office workers, two part-time nurses, two part-time dental assistants, and one part-time medical assistant.
Needs The Free Clinic needs volunteers and donations of money and in-kind goods and services (for example medications, office supplies and the like).
Volunteer Opportunities The Free Clinic provides primary health care services for over 20,000 patient visits a year through the generous donation of volunteer time and talent. We need help from lay people and health care professionals. Outlined next are some of our specific needs.

  • "Staff Stuffers" (to furnish snacks for volunteers coming straight from work)
