On Oct. 12, the Lynchburg Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (LAIFA) sponsored a fundraising Golf Tournament at London Downs Golf Course. All of the proceeds from this event went to the Free Clinic of Central Virginia.

On behalf of the Free Clinic and its board of directors, we would like to thank Tom Hodges, golf chairman, and Mary Jane Dolan, president of LAIFA, and their office staffs for organizing and hosting a very successful and well-run tournament. The Depot Grill, Pepsi, Frito Lay and Dave’s Dawgs provided a variety of treats for our delicious box lunches. We would also like to thank the following sponsors: Apple Glass, Beacon Credit Union, The Peanut Company of Virginia, Ward Dean CPA, The Dean Nuckles Insurance Agency, The Bill Brown Agency, Michaels Carpet World, Baughman & Associates, George Cooper Insurance, Colonial Brokerage House, Sandrof Auto Body, Ivy Hill Golf Course, New London Steak House, Logans Roadhouse, Texas Steak House, Wintergreen Resort, London Downs Golf Course, Lin-Care, Crown Sterling, Golf Mart, Dicks Sporting Goods and the Swann Group for the donations that they made towards this outstanding cause. We also thank all the teams that entered and competed in the tournament.

Because of this type of community support, the Free Clinic of Central Virginia provided $5 million worth of medical, dental and pharmaceutical services in 2006 for a little more than $550,000. It has served more than 16,000 different members of our community with these services over the last 20 years.

A huge thank you to LAIFA for their generous support of about $5,000 which will allow the Free Clinic to continue serving the uninsured and/or underinsured in our community.
