The Free Clinic of Central Virginia held the annual James River Charity Basketball Tournament in mid-March. As usual, it was a great success due to the financial and in-kind backing from the following contributors: The News & Advance, Barr Labs, Bank of the James, BB&T, Benchmark Systems, Centra Health, High Peak Sportswear, Schewels, Hurt and Proffitt, Rehabilitation Associates of Central Virginia, First National Bank of Altavista, Flippen, Bruce, Porter Inc., Generation Solutions, N.B. Handy, Elks Club, Planters Bank, Industrial Products and Conner Produce.

The members of the committee thank Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, Jubilee Family Center and Lynchburg College for use of their excellent facilities during the weekend.
The tournament was a success also due to the officiating by The Colonial Officials Association under the leadership of Bob Walker. We would also like to recognize the clock and scoring volunteers: Richard Petty, Candace Farringer, Yolonda Johnson, Ron Pennix, Al Delbridge and Becky Ayers.

The Board of The Free Clinic of Central Virginia also thanks the following corporations, who sponsored teams and supported their participating employees: Abbott Laboratories/Ross Division (Consolation Winners), Archer Creek/Intermet, Areva, Automated Conveyor Systems(Second Place), Barr Laboratories, BWX Technologies (Champions), Diebold, Genworth, Georgia Pacific, Lynchburg Fire and EMS, Progress Printing, Tri Tech Laboratories, Westover Dairy and Weyerhaeuser.

For participating in the Professional/Fun division, we thank individuals on teams of: attorneys, educators at E.C. Glass High School, educators of Lynchburg College and alumni from Virginia Tech.

We thank you all for being part of helping fulfill our mission of providing healthcare for the underserved at the Free Clinic of Central Virginia.
