Thanks from the Free Clinic
Lynchburg News and Advance
Saturday, April 15, 2006The Free Clinic of Central Virginia held the annual James River Charity Basketball Tournament March 18 and 19. As usual, it was a great success due to the financial and in-kind backing from the following contributors: The News & Advance, Barr Labs, and Frito Lay (Gold donors); Benchmark Systems, Centra Health, and Rehabilitation Associates Central Virginia (Silver donors); Bank of the James, BB&T, Campbell Insurance, First Impressions-Med Spa, First National Bank of Altavista, Generation Solutions, N.B. Handy, Inc., Schewels, and Southern Air (Bronze donors), and Hurt & Proffitt, Industrial Products, and Flippen, Bruce, Porter, Inc. (Copper donors). The members of the committee thank Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and Lynchburg College for their staff members’ time and the use of their excellent gymnasium facilities during the weekend.
The tournament was a success also due to the officiating by the Colonial Officials Association under the leadership of Bob Walker. We would also like to recognize the clock and scoring volunteers, Georgia Delbridge, Candace Farringer, Yolonda Johnson, Ben Ruehle, Rodney Scruggs, and Shelley Edwards. Without their help the tournament could not have run as smoothly as it did. We thank you.
The Board of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia also thanks the following corporations that sponsored teams and supported their participating employees including Abbott Laboratories/Ross Division, Archer Creek/Intermet (two teams), AREVA, Automated Conveyor Systems (second place), Barr Laboratories, BWX Technologies (Champions), Diebold, Inc., Genworth, Progress Printing, Timken, Tri-Tech Laboratories, Westover Dairy, and Weyerhauser (Consolation Bracket winner).
For participating in the Professional/Fun division, we thank individuals on teams of attorneys, dentists, and First Impressions Med Spa.
