DR. AUGUSTUS PETTICOLAS, JR This spring 2003 issue of the FCCV Newsletter is dedicated to Dr. Augustus Petticolas, who will complete his fourth term as President of the Board of Directors on March 31, 2003. Gus has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1988 and a volunteer dentist at the Free Clinic since 1987. We are very fortunate to have had and to continue to have his sage counsel, stabling influence, and personal and professional commitment to meeting the needs of the "working poor" in Central Virginia. THANKS, GUS! |

DECEMBER - JANUARY FUND RAISING WAS STRONG Fund raising support for the Free Clinic continued "on target" toward our goals as of late 2002-early 2003. We have raised 48% to 55% of goal for FY 2002-2003 in each of our four major donor categories: Foundations, Corporations, Churches, and Individuals. This is particularly good since most non-profits have experienced a decrease in support due to the poor economy. However, we will not be able to "rest on our laurels" since this
means we still need to raise 45% to 52% of our income between January and
June 30, 2003. We continue to need former supporters and new supporters to
give to the Free Clinic!
The United Way has "stepped up" to counter the loss of state funding and foundation support. They have awarded the Free Clinic an additional $6,000 from the flexible fund to be distributed monthly between January and June 2003. They have also distributed an additional $1,500 to the Free Clinic from their reserve fund to help pay for medications for the "working poor" in Central Virginia. The Free Clinic Board, staff, and patients wish to send grateful appreciation to everyone who has offered a contribution this past year. We thank those who gave $1, $10, $100, $1,000, and/or $10,000! We continue to need your support in 2003!!!! |
