The cash operating budget for the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, Incorporated in FY 2010-2011 is slightly higher than $630,000. These funds must be raised annually from individuals, churches, corporations, fundraisers, foundations, and other sources to pay staff salaries and benefits, utilities, postage, supplies, and other fixed expenses.
Additionally, the clinic was the beneficiary of $7 million worth of donated supplies and services including "in kind" medications ($2.3 million), medical and dental supplies ($300,000), free volunteer provider services ($4.7 million), free lab and testing services from Centra Health and others ($700,000) and other miscellaneous items ($500,000) this past year.
Therefore, the total budget for providing actual services is now over $8,000,000/year in 2010. In addition to this amount, private physician offices and Centra Health, which are accepting referred Free Clinic patients, provide another estimated $3-$4 million worth of indigent care to Central Virginians.
