FREE CLINIC RECEIVES FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Robert Barlow, Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, has announced three recent, significant gifts to support the medical, dental, and pharmaceutical programs at the clinic. The Free Clinic provides these services for Central Virginians with incomes of 150% of the poverty level or lower without any form of health insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare.The Bedford Health Foundation has awarded a $2,500 annual grant to support expanded dental services for Bedford residents. Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Harrington have continued to support the work of the Free Clinic with another $10,000 donation. Ms. Pearl Hiller has given $1,225 to further the services for the "working poor".
So far in 2003, every $1 donated to the Free Clinic has enabled the staff and volunteers to provide $6 of direct care services to patients. Therefore, every $100 or $1,000 gift provides $600 0r $6,000 worth of medical support to our community.
