FREE CLINIC RECEIVES AN ADDITIONAL $10,000 AWARD FROM ANTHEM (formerly TRIGON) BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD and A $5,000 GRANT FROM THE PLYMALE FOUNDATION
January 10,2003
The Free Clinic of Central Virginia, Inc. has been awarded a second $10,000 grant by ANTHEM Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia. This donation is in addition to the $10,000 amount previously announced in October 2002 for general operating expenses. This donation will be used for specific supplies and expenses for the Chronic Disease Initiative (Hypertension Component) and to defray the expenses for pharmaceuticals for the working poor who are served by the clinic.
The Plymale Foundation ( A Division of Wachovia Bank) has also provided a $5,000 grant to assist with the general operating expenses of the Free Clinic. This donation was sent out in December 2002, and it will enable the Free Clinic to provide an additional $25,000 in client medical services in 2003.
The Free Clinic has now served over 11,000 different Central Virginians who are without health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid since it opened in 1987. Currently, there are an estimated 21,000 citizens in this area and over 41,200,000 Americans in this situation. Please send donations or bring in-kind gifts to support the Free Clinic to 1016 Main Street, Lynchburg, Virginia 24504
