FREE CLINIC RECEIVES $16,175 IN GRANTS FROM THE GREATER LYNCHBURG COMMUNITY TRUST

Robert Barlow, Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, and Augustus Petticolas D.D.S, President of the Board of Directors, have announced that The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust has awarded a number of grants to the Free Clinic. These donations will be used for specific supplies and expenses in the Chronic Disease Initiative (Hypertension Component), to defray the expenses of pharmaceuticals, and for general operating expenses of the clinic for the working poor.

The grants which total $16,175 come from the following sources: The Free Clinic Endowment Fund, The Anonymous Fund, The Grace P. and A. Kendall Sydnor Fund, The Rosalind and L. John Denney Fund, The Thomas P. and Lewise Parsley Fund, The Kenneth L. and Bertha S. White Fund, and The Kay and Helen Carpenter Fund.

The Free Clinic has now served over 11,000 different Central Virginians who are without health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid since it opened in 1987. Currently, there are an estimated 21,000 citizens in this area and over 41,200,000 Americans in this situation. The Free Clinic has been able to supply $5 in services for every $1 donation in 2002.
