G. E. FINANCIAL WINS TOURNAMENT
(April 12, 2004)At the James River Charity Basketball Tournament, which was held at Lynchburg College and Randolph Macon Woman's College on March 20-21, there were 11 different corporate teams that competed for the Championship in a double elimination format. The G.E. Financial team defeated Abbott Labs by 40-28 in an exciting championship game. In the consolation bracket, Diebold slipped by AREVA (formerly Framatone) by 48-42 to claim the third place trophy. The Free Clinic of Central Virginia at 1016 Main Street in Lynchburg was the beneficiary of over $8,600 in raised funds from this event.
In the "Fun" Division the final scores were: Tech-45 to UVA-33; Lynchburg College Faculty & Staff-63 over Scott Insurance-24; Heritage-61 to Glass-49; and Coach "F"s Lawyers defeated the Dentists by 58-38.
