VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION CEREMONY

On Wednesday, April 27 the Free Clinic held its annual volunteer recognition ceremony at the lovely home of Georgia and Al Delbridge. All volunteers were treated to a fantastic social hour catered by the Free Clinic staff and a few friends. The Executive Director, Robert Barlow, announced that all volunteers would be receiving 2006 "Building Teamwork" Pocket Calendars as soon as they arrived at the clinic. He reminded volunteers to "please put the clinic on their calendars for next year".

Several special awards were also announced. Lifesaver Awards presented by Jane Ayers, Office/Program Manager, for being essential (last minute sometimes) and faithful volunteers went to: Dr. Patricia Pletke, Dr. John Howard, Ed Breslow, PharmD, Ralph Kiger, RPT, and Cathy Ward, RPT. Three persons also received Libba Hughes Awards for outstanding volunteer service by "lay" persons; these awards are named for Libba Hughes, a long time FC volunteer, who currently lives at the Williams Home. Those honored were: Suzanne McNeely, Jim Rupert, and Steve Engledove. Karen Goodwin Awards, which are named for another long time Free Clinic volunteer, were presented to: Dr. Charles Ashworth, Steve Graham, PharmD, Diane Sullivan, Patsy Pinn, and Cynthia Hendricks

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Barlow and Abigail Haney, Chair of the Board of Directors, presented certificates and plants to long-time and founding Board of Directors members Anne Bishop, R.N. ED. and John Scudder, Jr., PhD. Both Anne and Jack helped to start the Free Clinic and will move off the board this spring, but they will continue to serve on the Advisory Board and as volunteers.
