LOCAL FOUNDATIONS SUPPORT THE FREE CLINIC
The Free Clinic of Central Virginia has recently received notification that it will be gaining funding support from four foundations in the Central Virginia area.
The Easley Foundation has forwarded a major grant of $21,620 to replace a leaky roof and provide other necessary repairs and maintenance work.
The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust through The Kenneth L. & Bertha S. White Fund, The Rosalind & L. John Denney Fund, and The Thomas P. & Lewise S. Parsley Fund, will provide $13,386.90 to purchase needed dental supplies for this program in 2008-2009.
The Nelson County Community Development Foundation has supported the recently opened Nelson Dental Clinic in the Rockfish Valley, which is jointly operated with the Blue Ridge Medical Center in Lovingston, with a $10,000 donation for operating costs.
Finally, the Bedford Community Health Foundation granted an annual $5,000 gift to help defray the expenses that will be incurred in providing medical, dental, and pharmaceutical service to Bedford residents.
Support from Central Virginia foundations, churches, businesses, and individuals provides a ten fold return in services to needy persons. Every $1 donated to the Free Clinic in 2007 provided $10 worth of health care.
