FREE CLINIC RECEIVES TWO NEW GRANTSThe Free Clinic of Central Virginia, Inc (1016 Main Street in Lynchburg) has just received a grant for $5,000 from the Bedford Community Health Foundation. This award is designed to provide much needed medical, dental, and pharmaceutical services for Bedford residents. Specifically, this support will enable more Bedford residents to obtain dental care in both the day and evening dental programs as well as increase the number of Bedford citizens who will receive assistance with their medications. The latter will be accomplished through the Free Clinic's pharmacy and by the separate MedsHelp program, which is now operating out of the Free Clinic facility. Secondly, the Edgar Rouse-Hunter Family Foundation has made a donation of $1,000 to assist with general operating expenses. Every $1 donated to the Free Clinic in 2005 has enabled the clinic to provide $8 worth of services. This is due to its 450 volunteers and millions of dollars of donated services from Centra Health, pharmaceutical companies, local physicians' offices, local citizens, and others.
